Ahmet Köse warns of flood and landslide risks in Istanbul
Meteorologist Ahmet Köse said new rainfall on saturated ground could increase the risk of flooding and landslides.

Following the heavy rain in Istanbul, meteorologist Ahmet Köse said ground conditions also needed to be considered while rainfall continued. In comments made on Haberler.com and reported by Son Dakika, Köse said additional rain falling on saturated ground could heighten the danger of flooding and landslides. According to Köse’s assessment, the risk could continue across much of the country until midday on Sunday, 18 October. He stressed that people living in areas previously affected by flooding or landslides, as well as residents of basement flats, needed to be particularly careful. Köse also said changes in the frequency, duration and intensity of rainfall needed to be taken into account in infrastructure planning.
